Payyambalam Beach

Located in Kannur, Payyambalam beach offers a great beach experience. The presence of a freshwater lagoon to its eastern side adds to the beauty. Often, the beach plays host to various cultural and social programs.Stroll around the area or sink in the sun on the sands. The beach remains sunny for most of the year, and so a lot of tourists come here to just relax and to get a tan.


HOW DO I GET THERE
It is barely 2km from Kannur city. The nearest airport is at Karipur, 93km to the south. Buses, trains and taxis connect this Malabar region with the rest of the state.


OTHER ATTRACTIONS  
St Angelo’s Fort, locally known as Kannur Fort was built by Portuguese. The fort is preserved as a museum of history now. Tourists are allowed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Mopla Bay is an old fishing harbour and sea port. Check out the ‘Mother and Child’ at the beach garden at Payyambalam. It is a sculpture by famous artist Kanyi Kunjiraman.
