Kappad Beach

It was here in Kappad, locally known as ‘Kappa Kadavu’ that Vasco da Gama landed in 1498. It was the beginning of a long tryst with western colonial empires. A small stone monument here testifies the historical event that changed the political economic and social existence of India.

Located 16km off the vibrant city of Kozhikode, this beach is known for its food and art. This charming rock-studded beach is lined with palm trees, and the village roads welcome you to this tranquil haven. The long, rock pier extending into the sea is perfect for enjoying the mesmerizing view around. The unspoilt beach is best enjoyable during the sunny season. However, if you are the kind of person who likes to enjoy the wild side of nature, the monsoons are more than inviting. Adding a spiritual beauty to the beach is a temple-around 800 years old, sitting on the rock pier.

The beach has been recently beautified, providing visitors with enough facilities to enjoy their time in the best possible way. Kappad beach is one of the most unexploited and untouched beaches in the Malabar region.
