Ezhimala Beach
This beach is located at Ezhimala in Kannur. Ezhimala enjoys great historical importance in the social history of the state. It is believed that Lord Buddha visited Ezhimala to spread his message of non-violence and dharma. In the 10th century it was the capital of the Mushika Vamsha Kingdom, which ruled south India. At the foot of the nearby rocky hills are the remnants of the ancient civilisation that lived here. Carved pillars and burial chambers are found here. The hill is also known for rare medicinal plants. Large parts of the area here have been occupied by a naval training academy.
