Cherai Beach Resort

The beach resort, too, is built along the canals and lagoons. The beach stands on one side. You can watch the sun rising over the backwaters, whereas it sets near the beach.

The Fishermen Villas are designed in typical Kerala traditional style. More so like the tribal huts, of which no two are similar. They’re built using natural materials such as bamboo, coir, palm leaves and canes. You’ll find the floor with terracotta tiles and the walls mud-plastered. The winds from the sea are more than enough to cool up the rooms.The Modern Villas are A/C ones, and come with satellite TV, a mini fridge, hot water, telephone and other facilities.

The multi-cuisine restaurant, Oottupura, serves lip-smacking delicacies. You can choose the fish or the kind of seafood you want to have, and the cooks will dish up something of your choice. You should specify if the dish need be spicy, pungent or mild. There’s an open air restaurant as well as food service on the lawn. You can set up a barbeque, too, on the lawn.

There’s an AC conference hall – Rajadhani – that looks out on to the Arabian Sea. You can view the beautiful coconut lagoons as well from here. The hall seats 45 people. The hall has an LCD projector and Wi-Fi broadband internet facility. The mini AC conference hall – Tharavadu – built in traditional Kerala style faces the backwaters, and can seat 25 people comfortably. Koothambalam is the non AC open air banquet hall with thatched roof. This, too, faces the sea, and can seat 200 people.

And if yoga and yoga entice you, check out the Ayurmana Spa. There’s facility for naturopathy, too. If you’re into a fitness regime, keep yourself in shape at the health club and multi-gym. They also have beach umbrellas and benches for sunbathing.
